Genre as a marketing tool.

This poster is effective for advertising a film of a horror genre for many different reasons. The edges of the poster are blackened, and in the centre is an image of an 'attractive' woman's face, screaming. Her eyes are widened and her mouth is open, her hand covering it as if she's gasping. This scared look makes it seem as though she is being approached by a killer.

The tagline 'Someone has taken their love of scary movies one step too far. Solving this mystery is going to be murder' Has some irony in it, describing the trouble as 'murder' so solving this mystery is going to result in murder, aswell as be difficult.

This is a typical horror film poster, the fonts being in white, contrasting to the dark background so they stand out, and the only colour involved at all is that of the woman's eyes, so it really expresses her emotions and gives a sense of realism.
